May Misc Before Round 5

Lucas and I exploring new trails. This time of year is so pretty in central VA!IMG_0802smOur friend Wendy ran in a 5k with proceeds going to Brain Cancer research and sent us these great pics.IMG_0585smThe people wearing yellow are brain cancer survivors! And this is just those in the DC area- so incredibly inspiring to see this one. Gives me more hope.
IMG_0584smSophie continues to slowly recover from the effects of her brain surgery. She’s interested in working on painting again. At first she was so frustrated because she remembered how easy this was before… she was drawing smooth circles and straight lines. Now she barely has brush control but because she is persistent and independent she has set out to get this skill back and enjoy art again- however different it may look now. 🙂IMG_0654sm It was such a wonderful treat to all be home for Mother’s Day. Laith picked up take-out from our favorite brunch place, made me a mimosa and helped both kids make cute cards. The weather was perfect for a back porch picnic and Sophie’s mood was stable enough for us to all finish our meals. IMG_0681sm IMG_0702smIMG_0752smI got a sitter for Lucas for a couple hours while I took Sophie to physical therapy and a clinic appointment. We had 45 min in between appts so we went to a nearby park, pulled the picnic blanket out of the car and enjoyed the snack I packed under a shade tree. She was so incredibly happy and it was then that I realized this was the first time in half a year that she’s had one-on-one time with me outside of a hospital. We need to do this more 🙂
